Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) is a gentle; none invasive, multidisciplinary manual therapy treatment system which is used to improve articular and soft tissue movement using specifically controlled release, myofascial manipulation, and mobil izatiotechniques while the patient is under moderate sedation using monitorized anesthesia care.
Licensed physicians who have specialized training and certification specifically for this procedure perform the treatment in a surgical center. The team includes the anesthesiologist, the primary physician/surgeon who performs the manipulation (chiropractic physician) , and the first assistant, also a physician certified in manipulation under anesthesia.
